Peter Philips is the visionary makeup artist behind some of fashion’s most imaginative and iconic beauty moments, his legacy defined by a rare equilibrium: a harmonious blend of wit and refinement, wild creativity and meticulous execution, layered artistry that never loses its sense of composure — even at its most daring.
A graduate of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp with a background in graphic design, Philips transitioned to the world of makeup in the early ‘90s — a decision that would spark a series of legendary, spontaneous creations. Among them, his now-famous Mickey Mouse face, sketched with precision on a model during a shoot with Raf Simons, Willy Vanderperre, and Olivier Rizzo — future collaborators who helped cement the image as a modern classic.
Known for his passionate creativity and collaborative spirit, Philips has forged enduring partnerships with photographers, stylists, and designers across the spectrum of fashion. From 2008 to 2013, he served as Creative Director of CHANEL Makeup, before embracing a more independent role that allowed his artistry to evolve ever further.
In March 2014, he was appointed Creative and Image Director of Christian Dior Makeup, where he continues to redefine the possibilities of beauty, challenging our perceptions of makeup’s place in fashion and culture through constant innovation.
